In this paper, a simple relation between the zero-field splitting D in tetragonal phase and the spin-lattice coupling coefficient G11 in cubic phase for d(n) ions in crystals with perovskite structure has been established under the assumption of rigid MX6 octahedra and constant volume. According to the relation, the linear dependence of zero-field splitting D on the lattice constant ratio c/a for tetragonal RbCaF3:Mn2+, RbCaF3:Fe3+, RbCdF3:Fe3+ and TlCdF3:Fe3+ crystals has been reasonably explained from the empirical superposition model and the spin-orbit coupling mechanism.
